Is this bee native? Is that plant invasive? Who are the little critters that live in my backyard? The best first step to protecting your creeks is often getting to know the animals, plants, and fungi that call them home. With iNaturalist, you can snap a photo of that mystery creature and draw on a sophisticated identification algorithm and literally thousands of experts to learn the identities of your non-human neighbors. As an added bonus, all confirmed observations can be used by scientists to study countless topics from species range expansion to unique symbiotic relationships. Plus, it's just a great excuse to get outside!
Our iNaturalist project,"Creeks of Santa Barbara County," measures all wildlife within 50 feet of a creek's banks. Every month we select our favorite observation to feature on this webpage. We hope to see your photos in the running!
